Georgian Place Scarecrow Festival

Everyone loves a scarecrow! Add that to live entertainment, seasonal foods, and activities for the whole family and you have a great weekend festival! That’s what you’ll find Saturday, September 18 at Georgian Place during the 2010 Scarecrow Festival.
Stroll through the village; enjoy the fall season outdoors and entertainment such as live scarecrows, Laurel Arts Dancers, the community band, Roof Garden Chorus, Willing Vessels, DJ Rock-o and more. The scarecrow competition and display will be sure to fascinate young and old. Life sized scarecrows will be displayed throughout the village and competing for cash prizes! These pieces of American Folk Art were thoughtfully and artistically designed by area businesses, youth groups, and kids in Somerset County. Don’t forget to vote in any of the shops for your favorite scarecrow through October 2.
In addition, there will be activities throughout the day including a scarecrow making workshop, quilt show and sale, apple bobbing, a petting zoo, face painting, and much more. The model railroad and train display by the Laurel Highlands Railroad Club will be open to all and there will be guest appearances by the PA Maple Queen, Rachel Elder. David Garwood will also be doing special seasonal poem readings at 1 pm for children and 3 pm for children of all ages! While you are here, plan to browse all of the great specialty shops and treat yourself to delicious foods and baked goods like roasted corn, warm soups, fresh apple dumplings, fall ice cream flavors, and funnel cakes. There is really something for everyone at the Georgian Place Scarecrow Festival.
